Wide streets encourage drivers to drive fast. Quick, low-cost traffic calming interventions can help slow drivers down. Here, we identify segments of Charlottesville neighborhood streets that are over 36' wide and could be candidates for traffic calming.

Traffic calming interventions could include:

• Defining the parking lane
• Moving the parking lane closer to center of the street
• Narrowing the street with chicanes or curb extensions
